Believe it or not, with a few reasonable modifications, the "Universal Jobs Guarantee" program would be much better than the current cumbersome unemployment insurance scheme.

Glad we agree on this. When I first saw your link, my first thought was "it beats spending money on unemployment"..

It's like Welfare. If society is going to pay money out to take care of someone, it should get something in return.

I personally prefer the idea that government provide tax incentives to small business to hire and retain workers. From what I've heard it would be far less expensive than the current stimulus package, and help to bolster consumer demand, or at least stave off foreclosures due to job loss.
