You could lower even more if you eliminated federal coverage mandates. The mental health mandate alone probably made insurance unaffordable for half a million.

Ah Tort reform - is not included? Ah - more evidence - bought and paid for "change you can believe in". Is there anything at all left of the charade of the Obama campaign?

Lies you can hear and see!

I would include in that list a mandate for compliance with technology standards for medical records technology, to be developed by private industry over a period of no more than 3 years.

These standards would include provision for device and operating system compatibility, security, access controls, storage, transportability, and upwards migration to new technology as it is developed in both technology and medicine.

The medical industry is just now coming in to the electronic age. What we don't need is a whole bunch of incompatible technology (see Betamax vs. VHS). Doctors, health insurers, hospitals, drug companies, and testing labs need to be able to exchange information seamlessly with appropriate security and access controls as needed.

Portability of patient medical history is a key.

>…and open markets for prescription drug purchases.<

If you’re referring to importing prescription drugs from Canada, that’s a phony issue, IMO:
