Derek, RE: <<<More bad news for Alpha chip. . .>>>

This news is months old. Why drag it up now? DEC has come a long way since then, including settlement with Intel. By the way, DEC trading near 12-month high today, INTC down 23% from high!

Charlie.

I don't know how much I would read into that.

I once was a partner in a software company that developed 'extensions' to AutoCAD. Although ADSK supports (or did) their product on a number of platforms, the Intel/Windows/DOS variants have always dominated the product mix (my recollection is 90%+), with Unix, MacOS and others trailing far behind. Autodesk has been dropping support for the marginal AutoCAD platforms since the R13 announcement in 1994.

For whatever reason, people who buy AutoCAD don't seem to want to run it on RISC workstation hardware.

Regards,

Al
