Bayh (bought and paid for by the health care industry)is correct, but there is a smart way to do it and a dumb way. Turning health care over to Grassley was a dumb way. I posted right here over and over and over that getting in bed with the right wing was stone cold nuts. I knew they were snakes and Obama should have known. FDR took on his own class from day one becasue he knew what snakes they were. FDR was so brazen the likes of the Duponts, etc fomented a civil war to overthrow him and form a fascist government. It was that serious. A famous general informed on them to the congress. FDR thumbed his nose at them and went out and got er done. Rumor has it the first day FDR asked Harry Hopson: go out and find out what the people need-today! Then he created millions of jobs. We have efecctively 20% unemplyment right now and it is worse among the minorities going up past 40%. Obama should have formed a WPA from day one and employed millions of people. He should have guaranteed mortgage refinancing at the low interest rates of first and seconds, for anyone with a job and good credit scores. That is how he could have helped the middle class and run the money through the middle class to the banks---rather than just giving them free money to gamble with. And the mdidle class would have paid those loans back. BUT the banks wanted the good customers with 8 and 9% loans to stay on the hook. They had no incentive to help refinace their best customers! The banks were making a killing off them getting the money for free. And so the banks made it harder for the middle class to refinacne those high interest loans e.g they would not allow refinancing of first and seconds. Ask any banker friend you know and they will tell you that was the number 1 bitch. So either Obama was outfoxed or???
