McHugh - Stocks are up Tuesday, January 19th, which doesn't surprise us in the least. This is the 18th time out of the past 20 weeks that the first trading day of the week was up. That is clearly bizarre as the first trading day of the week has accounted for 80 percent of all the price appreciation in the stock market since March 2009. Regardless, stocks are putting in a major top here. Short-term, the 15, 30 and 60 minute Full Stochastics are overbought as of mid-day Tuesday in the Industrials, S&P 500, and NDX. The 15 and 30 minute chart Relative Strength indicator is overbought as well. This suggests prices should turn lower either late this afternoon or Wednesday.
