Defending the right of Dostum to be a mini Saddam is not the average Kiwi's idea of a sensible policy. NZ did stay out of the conquest of Iraq. NZ's anti-nukes legislation has had NZ boycotted for decades by the USA. They didn't apologize and come cap in hand. The bosses of the USA do what they want. Having lots of randy young males on the loose does lead to aggression and violence, especially if they haven't got much to do that's useful. The Devil finds work for idle hands. Israel could provide free condoms to surrounding populations - it's still quite Malthusian in the area so it's not surprising that age-old chimpoid tribal genocidal aggression is rationalized as being a good thing. Sure, the Moslems have the Koran to fire them up with a rationalization for their violence, but they could read anything they want to into tea leaves too. Let's face it, launching rockets and blowing up the enemy is lots of fun for them. Much better than tilling a field or doing something tedious. Mqurice
