These days, it helps to know what's ridiculous.

There are two current realities: one is "The Story" being told by sell-side status quo players and repeated by mainstream media; the other is "The Reality" being told mainly by new media and black sheep: bloggers, analysts and disbelievers with no allegiance to the old order.

"The Story" is virtual reality. It always was, but 50 years ago underlying US fundamentals were strong - relatively and absolutely.

Now they're not. Even in the face of continuing decline for decades, such is the global size and importance of the US economy that change will take time.

The future is foretold. Changes are already happening. But in a dangerously unstable world, and there's no need to accelerate the inevitable.

Well O finally put his foot down, what will Bennie and the Fed do, another POMO. Better question is will Hedgies and the PE's start leaving town?
