Doug Kass says this...

<<...I am fairly certain that last night's defeat will not change the President's agenda, nor will it likely push Obama toward the center or in a major course correction...>>

I would claim Obama has been living in the Center for much of his first year - with Rahm Emmanuel as your Chief of Staff you won't get out of the Center...IF Obama would govern the way he campaigned he might be in a better position right now...Obama seems to have abandoned his progressive roots and that's frustrating his base BIG TIME.

The quickness with which the Democratic Congressional leadership welcomed Brown to the Senate indicates to me that there was a division between the left wing extremists and the leadership including Obama.

Now, folks like Lieberman, Reid, Obama etc. have the upper hand over these left wingers. I expect Obama to resume his meetings with Olympia Snow and possibly Senator-elect Brown for the 60th and 61st vote
