As I said before, Lieberman can be very GOP on some issues and very Dem on others. That's what makes him an Independent. Lieberman is a moving target. His views seem to change every couple of years. And btw, that's the problem with Independents as a party. Independents are people who have policy opinions on both sides of the aisle, but no two independents or centrists have exactly the same opinions on different issues. So there is no way to get ideological purity enough to generate a successful centrist party, which is probably why it hasn't happened yet. I understand......until last year, I labeled myself as an independent. Neither party did it for me completely. But the GOP has gone so far off the track, and I wanted to have input in the Dem primary......so that's why I became a Dem.Hell, think of it this way. You think I'm a loony GOP, who says he's a centrist. i-node and others on this thread think I'm a loony liberal, who says he's a centrist. I don't think you're loony. First of all, I am very frustrated by the election last nite. Coakley didn't have to lose and that's effecting my 'vision' today. As far as being a centrist, it depends on where you place the center. In this country most conservatives see Kerry as an extreme liberal. But on more global/sane political spectrums, Kerry is considered center....maybe even slightly right. I tend to go by the more global spectrums. On that spectrum you would be center right and I would be center left. No biggie. My only complaint with you is that you seem to accept as gospel what I consider to be some of the myths of the GOP......we've talked about that before. Maybe conservatives are supposed to have fiscal integrity and believe in small gov't but that sure as hell isn't what the GOP stands for. And in a different vein, I think wishing for small gov't in a country of 300+ million people is like hoping to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I think its a waste of time discussing it. On the other hand, working to make gov't more efficient, innovative and productive, I consider to be a noble subject. ;-)
