What folks like Schumer and Waxman did during health care negotiations is similar to what Cheney and folks did for making a case on war against terrorism. This country is still very much in the middle. Do these things in a series of baby steps. They fought the war against terrorism without any planning, proper gear, plan etc. Similarly, Obama fought this war on healthcare without any preparation, people contact etc. The result, they got chewed by the lobbyists during the summer of '09. Bush got the Canada drugs bill passed without a 60 member Senate. I thought that Obama could have easily reversed that since he had a filibuster proof Senate.
