Yes .. a natural shriek-y, shrill-y tone. The kind of thing you can't really fix without sounding stilted and over-controlled.

This can be fixed with training. Eleanor Roosevelt had a shrill voice like that when she started public speaking. FDR's folks trained her out of it. I bet FOX will train Sarah Palin, if she has the sense to accept the training.

Perhaps Sarah's voice doesn't grate on me because I do not hear high frequency sounds, especially consonants spoken by a woman who does not enunciate clearly. I hear clearly what Sarah says, and that is all that is important to me. If we can tolerate Barney Fwank's voice, we can tolerate Sarah's.
