So just this once I’ll give them my best advice. My advice to the Democrats would be to say "message received" and drop the current Health Care Reform bill and break it up into five different bills and see which ones if any can get a 60 vote majority. Then to insure that they can re-elect enough House representative so that they keep the majority after this fall, they need to remove both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid from their role as majority leaders. If these two are still representing the Democrats as majority leaders this fall then I predict that they will lose control of their House majority. These two characters are the least popular politicians in the country these days. If the Democrats want to blame someone for losing in D-MASS, I would start by blaming these two jokers. In early December Coakley was 30 to 40% points ahead and ended up losing by 5% that is about a 40% swing. Something happened in the last 30 days that caused 40% of the voters, that’s four out of ten!!! . to switch their vote. Well what happened in the last 30 days. 1. the Health Care Reform bill finally passed in the Senate on Dec 24th, it had gone on and on so long that everyone was sick of hearing about it. But it was only the first of the four key issues that caused Coakley to lose. 2. the Buying of Senator Nelson to achieve the 60th vote in December. RIP Senator Ben Nelson. If Senator Nelson hasn't already announced that he is not running for re-election he might as well, he is a lame duck for sure. 3. The behind closed doors negotiations between the House and the Senate. The whole time Fox News was playing seven or eight clips of Candidate Obama saying over and over again that when he gets elected they are going to negotiate on Health Care openly on C-SPAN. Sometimes he even goes on further say “that this was so you could see who was lobbying on the side of the Big Drug companies or the Bad HMO's”. The reality that was present was 180 degrees different. Instead everything was being negotiated by the Democrats in secret. Since Obama said and did nothing to counter this he looked like a complete and total hypocrite. This alone probably caused Obama favorability numbers to go down by at least 10%. 4. Then in order to resolve the differences in how to pay for this bill; The negotiators, Namely Harry and Nan, announced that they had reached a compromise. They had “talked” with the leaders of the major Unions and decide to exempt all Union workers, along with all State and Local government workers, but that everyone else (such as all white-collar private sector workers) would have to pay this tax. Uh Oh, big mistake. American voters could clearly see that this was an Unfair resolution. Heck why didn’t they just exempt all Democrats from paying. This lost the Democrats, probably 50% of all independents. Now whom would you blame for the above four items. Clearly the blame lies with the two least popular politicians in the country. That would be Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. They are the two with the most responsibility for each of the four items that occurred after Dec 15th 2009 and that lost the election of the Senator D-MASS. The MSM journalist David Gergen also should get a bit of the blame as well for referring to the Senate seat as "Teddy Kennedy's seat", but the Democrats can’t fire him. Every Republican on the ballot this fall is going to run against Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. If the Democrats were smart they would dump both of them before the fall elections. That’s my advice. I’m fairly confident that the Democrats won’t be taking it.
