C2, you may be right. Maybe it's just theater. Even if not, the measure has a long way to go before it becomes law. Wall Street's lobbyists and best-paid legislators will seek every possible way to hamstring, choke, delay, weaken and debase the intent.

But here's the thing: for the first time a clear line has been drawn, and I believe that come November voters will turn on those legislators who don't do the right thing.

A lot of commentators are using that awful term "populist" these days; if you're in synch with Wall Street then you're not "populist". I don't think they realize the extent of simmering frustration and outrage.

Right or wrong, I believe the time is approaching when legislators damn well better be populist, or be gone. Because "populism" is just a pejorative term for "democracy": reflecting the wishes of the majority. People are sick of seeing Wall Street's campaign money corrupt their political system; they won't vote for legislators on the wrong side of the line.

Just my opinion, but I really want the American people to exercise their franchise. I want the system to work and I believe most people want the same thing.

Jim
