Imagine the flood of creativity this would unleash. You'd have your core group of hobbyists that would try to produce all their own energy and then you'd have the rest doing what is economical or practical. The long and the short of it is that we'd have energy production at the utility level and at the individual level and it will all be distributed, instead of centralized, which would help make our grid more secure and bring prices down and drive value up. Even better, we could turn a heavily regulated energy market into a free market to unleash economic and consumer value. Not only that, but it would be a jobs and wealth creator for this country right at a time that we need it desperately.

And best of all, those jobs would be domestic jobs for Americans.
