Voting to overturn parts of McCain-Feingold were Chief Justice John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Anthony Kennedy.

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor joined John Paul Stevens in dissent.

If Stevens wants to limit freedom of speech and then carve out an exception for "the press" what would stop corporations from buying dying press outlets and then distributing their version of "the news" to everyone within reach free of charge?

Liberals don't seem to think very robustly.
