The reason I compared Khe Sanh rather than NOLA is that there was no way to land the big transport aircraft it would take to airlift the quantity of supplies you suggested we should have delivered almost immediately. We did not have anywhere near enough helicopters with a range necessary to airdrop the supplies.

Because the Eastern half of Hispaniola is not nearly as corrupt it was not devastated. Without fact checking I don't know, but I suspect we are using the Dominican Republic for staging much of the relief effort now.

I don't think we're the solution to all problems but this is right in our own back yard and we ought to be able to provide at least water, MREs, and medical supplies in a timely manner

Perhaps we should have called UPS.
