Hi Dale -

From the looks of the SparQ at the Syquest web site, the drive and cartridges are identical to the Syjet. In fact, the Cartridge is the EXACT same weight to the tenth of a gram and the dimple on the upper right corner... since most of the weight is in the platters (two in the Syjet cartridge), I would have to imagine that they are using Syjet cartridge rejects to make SparQ cartridges. Since the tolerances are much tighter to stick 1.5GB (vs 1GB) on a cartridge, they just may be reformatting them to 1 GB and selling them as SparQ cartridges.

In any event, the good news is that if this is true, Syjets should only need a firmware upgrade to use these cartridges.

Only thing that doesnt't jive is the fact that the SparQ is advertised as a single platter cartridge, and the Syjet as a dual platter. How can they both still weigh 85.1 grams???????

Something doesn't jive...

Regards,

Joe
