It is a variation on a theme: damned with faint praise.

You're being way too binary for me. And not at all analytical. Medicare is complicated. Some aspects of it deserve praise. Others, not so much. Others, still, are simply neutral. You insist on applying the halo effect to the program and interpret any discussion from me as a broad condemnation and lack of cheerleading as heresy. Medicare is an established program that provides adequately for lots of people who might not otherwise get care. It's hardly a panacea. If one is to judge it, which was not my purpose, then, realistically, faint praise is exactly what is warranted.
