Didn't mention that Etrade ran a full page ad in the San Jose Mercury today. Having advertised in the Mercury myself, I know that they paid many thousands for this ad...This on a day when servers were down right in the middle of the trading day. If just some of this money were being spent to fix the system, the remaining customers would be left in much better shape. This ties in to my theory that possibly the company is up for sale...Classic pattern to pump up the revenues with new subscribers, make the company look attractive with a super growth potential...Meanwhile neglecting to spend the big bucks on an overhaul/update of their systems & customer service [hold times for me today were 45 min.]. They were warned by their own customers about over-expansion, and that might be the bug that eventually bites them in their AOL...
