Low rates are one thing -- near zero rates are something else entirely.

You hit the nail squarely there. I'm a saver and I've been devastated by Ben's zero interest rate policy. No politician cries for the savers though - gotta save those poor deserving debtors. The fact that Bernanke's policies are destroying the saver class doesn't bother the politicians now, but sometime in the future when there is nobody left to invest in the future, they'll realize the foolishness of their ways. Only problem is, their solution will be to blame someone else. They'll still be whining about jobs but by then the best job available will be for Chinese interpreters because we'll be taking our directions from the Chinese.
