PS - I don't know what is true; it's interesting reading nonetheless. Anybody ever heard of the SS Poet ?

That IS interesting reading!! Have never previously read about any connection between the Liberty and Dakar, let alone the French sub going missing.

But I'm not going to say I'm surprised, nor am I shocked..

Sounds like a fair "quid pro quo", and punishment for (IMO was) Moshe Dayan's arrogance and stupidity in permitting an attack on the Liberty.

If the US did engage in sinking two submarines in retaliation, that was a VERY BALLSY decision that had to come the highest levels. I wouldn't put it past Johnson, after having decided not to run again, to organize such a mission. Especially if he felt he was being blackmailed by the Jewish lobby..

If this was the case, I applaud it..

What obviously was evident is that both governments had a lot to hide with regard to the Liberty incident. But governments are not electorates. And it's quite possible it could have created a crisis in both governments from electoral backlash by their respective citizens.

Better to hush it up and settle accounts later..

Yeah.. I like this theory.
