Ben Ginsberg, a Republican campaign finance expert, predicts that the rise of outside groups and wealthy individuals will significantly diminish the role and voice of the national political parties and the candidates themselves.

I fear that Ginsberg, who I quoted in my previous post, is more accurate that Jean Cummings, the author of this piece. I suspect he has overstated his case (Cummings quote tones it down a bit) but it's in the direction things will move.

This does suggest, however, one possibility, and that's legislating transparency. If it can't be stopped, the public could at least know which companies are doing what. And various bloggers et al could publicize that information.
