You are exactly correct. That is the call I would have made and not only because it seemed crazy to pass. The Saints can be vulnerable to runs up the middle.

I sorta agree about Favre taking a late hit or two, but it happens. One didn't seem like it could be avoided.

No one should expect to be molly-coddled in the NFL. A guy who is 40 years old simply cannot take a hit like a 21 year old.

And, anyway, the hit that resulted in his ankle injury was 100 percent legitimate.

Favre took a lot of hard legal hits. All complaints should be directed to the offensive line that didn't protect him.

In a sort of equitable balance, I thought there were at least four or five officiating calls that should not have been made against the Saints.

Well, one of the commentators made the observation that the pressure was on the offensive coach, who contributes to the decision as to whether run or pass.
