I'm trying to understand the worst thing that happened here. Out of all the naked puts AIG essentially sold and couldn't cover, was there favortism on who got paid 100% on the contracts they bought and everybody else got shafted? That seems to be the worst scenario. Did the taxpayer bail out firms that did not need to be bailed out and we just ensured their profits on the AIG contracts?
