Copied this from Iomega thread:

Record Dow Possible by J. Michael Pinson

Stock in companies with strong fundamental values get "Buy"
recommendations from investment advisor and newsletter publisher J. Michael Pinson. Earlier this week, as the Dow rocketed Tuesday, his recommendations included Citicorp (CCI:NYSE), Western Digital (WDC:NYSE) and Iomega (IOM:NYSE). And despite the week's volatility, Pinson doesn't rule out the market moving into rally mode in December and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing to a new record. He agrees with comments this week from Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan and President Clinton that inflation is low, and the U.S. economy is strong. But Pinson advises selectivity in investing. "Only (shares in) those companies that report strong quarter-to-quarter sales and earnings growth will perform well into 1998," he writes.

<<he totally missed the point>>

brian, your subtle and well taken points
are beyond his grasp. honestly, i don't think
he really thought about what he was saying
vis a vis slowness in the summer: it was a
distortion, at least by sin of omission. i found
it forgivable, and in fact, i cited it for its bullish
good cheer alone. these are lean times for wdc...
and it has been unduly punished by the recent panic
sellers.

but you are correct, brian.

why people say WDC is going to have a good quarter? any factual material to back it up? or people say WDC will have a good quarter just because everybody else is saying it? this was the situation in the APM thread, and before WDC's last quarter's pre-warn..
let's not get too optimistic. long on WDC but want to keep a cool head.
