When the business cycle is working against you there is very little you're going to do to fix it. It is like "climate change" or an earthquake; nature will take its course and nothing we do is likely to change it materially.

TARP *DID* help the cash flow problem, but the stimulus has been a waste of 800 Billion.

I tend to believe leader's attitudes can make a difference, as FDR did, as JFK did, as Reagan did. A strong, positive attitude gives people confidence.

This is why I complained so much last year about Obama talking down the economy. At some point his rhetoric began to instill fear into the very people upon whom we rely to bring business back.

And today, people have lost all confidence in him because of incompetent actions right and left.

I am very encouraged by the little I've heard about the upcoming State/Union. But he can't freeze spending and pursue this insane wild spending legislation like health care and cap-and-trade and other expensive programs and maintain any credibility.
