That's not at all how I saw it, nor have I seen that view from any major economist or business analyst. We'll have to agree to disagree. I saw the credit markets snap then the consumer and businesses were both cut off and scared shitless to spend anything out of fear their balance sheets would get worse in the crash. Then it becomes a reinforcing race to the bottom, saved only by the preservation of the banking system as you rightly pointed out. I've seen that view reiterated and reinforced from many sources.
