Thanks, KLP, for your response to the Al-gebra report. I'll bet that Emanuel and Gibbs are still trying to figure it out.

Thanks, also, for your inquiry re: things here in Chicago. I have the feeling that my fellow citizens are really getting tired of our famous native son. In fact, I heard a professor at the University of Chicago (Epstein) vociferously deny that Obama was close to getting tenure at that venerable institution. In fact, he described the prospects as out of the question and proceeded to give many reasons why Obamamessiah would fail to qualify. Epstein had many negative things to say about his former colleague.

A personal note: I have just returned from the hospital with Mr. B. He had to have a fairly large tumor surgically removed from his right shoulder and upper leg. The Vet assures me that he got all of it and that Mr B will not require radiation or chemotherapy. He says that Mr B is probably good for a few more years of the good life. Mr Bmjust celebrated his fourteenth birthday which makes his about as old as I am old when dog years are translated into human years.

He does have a very long incision now, running from his upper leg, across his shoulder and stopping at his neck. His hair will grow back and the incision should heal nicely. He is sleeping now in his bed next to my leather chair in my office and is oh so glad to be home again.

Growing old does have its problems but when we consider the alternative, I suppose we have reason to rejoice.

Hope all is well with you and your hubby.
