My guess is that all the fawning media attention just went to his head... the kid is only 24, I believe, and he craved the limelight and felt he needed to do something to keep the fame going (he was getting paid pretty well showing up for speeches at conservative conclaves and similar stuff too, so there is the 'money train' angle to factor in as well. Couldn't have that dry up.) Still, was stupid, stupid, stupid. (But I suppose that being arrested by the FBI is another way to gain some media attention.) I notice that one of the other guys arrested by the FBI is (about the same age, too) the son of a US Attorney in Louisiana! (Bet THAT generates some blistering dinner-time conversation the next time the kid goes home for a family sit-down. <g>)
