They were following models, not orders.

Not to unduly pursue this, because I take your original point defending some of the banking folks who are now on the pavement.

But the "models" were used at a very esoteric level in the banking regime.

Unless you were "model" building, you were following orders.

And I'm pretty sure that the folks who implemented the schemes, to monetize the derivatives from the get go, were more driven by quick profits and bonuses than theoretical capital formation and management.

The gravy train was rolling and at just about every level, they had their spoon in it.

as i recall, tavakoli said she warned firms. other risk analysts must have warned, also.
