Well John he touched me again with his speech . What an orator. He is the kind of person who if he was a general could lead an army into battle like Napoleon.....and everyone would charge but Republicans who would stop to tie a shoe string.

Wiping away my tears... I am a sentimental sob... I listened for a few minutes to the Republican rebuttals..
They were fast in coming. The first one was he did not talk enough about foreign policy and Russia in particular.

Another, why did he sign autographs ? Tacky.

Not interested enough to watch or listen to what the other criticisms are today. I was very happy with his speech.

I am glad he finally said he would work with Congress and the military to do away with Don't ask don't tell. However, I wish he would do it with presidential directive and the devil take the hindmost.

Guess I am still hanging in there with politics.

John;

Joe Klein's comments below are pretty close to my own views of the SOTU. ..........But in the end--the very end--the eloquence and sense of purpose was riveting

Too bad Krugman said he wasn't going to watch huh?

I agree with you John and with Klein.
