The were not talking about chartiable corporations. For the last 30 years our country has been operating under the illusion capitalism needs no regulation. What people failed to understand is that unregulated capitalism literaly undermines our demcoracy. Democracy has to be in control of capitalism at all times. When we enact laws that make corporations more powerful than people then the people are in danger. In the early 1900's workers were treated like dogs. Unions gave the people an opposing force to counter cruel employers. Glass Steagal protected the banks for 60 years.
