Where to start. First, the kids were starving!!

Secondly, it was not WWII, it was the "stimulous of WWII. If the money had been spent on infrastrucure it would have worked even better.

Third: individual debt began high and as government created jobs debt got paid down and more taxes got paid. WWII created full employment which allowed people to pay even more debt down and as they were now making so much money they created businesses, and paid so much in taxes, federal debt also came down until by 1950 both individual and government debt were very low.

Keynsian economics!!

>>Well I'm no history buff, but I think that some would argue how he paid for those 8M jobs extended the great depression by tripling taxes. Giving the money to the government to spend, of course taking their cut and not getting the biggest bang for the buck.

It took WWII to get out us of the Great Depression, not FDR's WPA.

So are you advocating a big works program now?
