I've mentioned here several times that the Dems have become an undisciplined mess in the last year, at a time when they should have pulled together to fashion a single message, with the various wings compromising for the greater good. A big part of that rests on their leadership, which I have repeatedly mentioned here too.

If they are incapable of doing that, they won't last long in power. OTOH, memories of Bush's failure to win over his party with immigration and Social Security reform are still pretty fresh. That was part of their undoing when they lost power in 2006.

Frankly, looking back at the last decade or two, I can't escape my general conclusion that our political system is incapable of effective action on complex, urgent issues. We will all pay the price for that down the line, right and left.

He should have been playing more golf and vacationing like Bush. And there are a few more schools here in Sarasota that would love to have the president come and read to them...*:)

Oh, maybe you could have had him join a bridge club.

He has tried to accomplish a lot of things too fast perhaps...
on that you are right.
