smarter minds than mine could answer that (about MRVC) but MRV is doing the right things by greatly expanding their sales forces to raise awareness of their products in the marketplace. They're certainly making inroads with their advanced features coupled with lower prices in many cases. As for INTC maybe being interested in the remote access arena? Why not? Why restrict themselves to just the LAN? What's at the heart of RAS products? Silicon CPUs. DSPs are chips. Modems run on chipsets. Food for thought.
