I2,

CYMI is a marked deviation from a "value" or fundamentals strategy for me. ... and as my cost basis is almost $28, so far it's not a successful deviation.

Ira,

RE: If nobody else wants it, why should you?

That's precisely why I want it, "because nobody else does". Somebody has to lead the herd. I prefer to do it in a fashion that will allow me to consistently and significantly outperform the major indices. The only way for me to achieve that is to have very simple strategies(such as beating the Dow) which I can mechanically follow.

Too many TA followers talk about how much they would have made if only they could stick to their own rules which get increasingly convoluted as they encounter more situations.

I also have a significant advantage compared with most fund managers. I'm not competing with anyone, I don't publish monthly, daily or hourly performance statistics. even if I did, it would have no impact on my net worth. I can afford to profit from multiyear strategies. In fact, doing so has some very attractive tax advantages.

In any case, do whatever you feel best suits you. If that doesn't produce returns that you deem adequate, there are numerous stategies that consistently yield index beating returns - some of which may be practiced by individuals of relatively modest means.
