Completely agree. It's an argument that is only ideological in the worst sense, or grubby greedy in the sense that "our side needs more money."

I think a constitutional amendment would go a long way toward restoring democracy in this country.

No way this can happen without enormous public outrage. And, at least at the moment, there's hardly a peep, save among some insiders like ourselves. The path to a constitutional amendment is almost impossible. And I would say impossible save for the dim outside chance of the public outrage factor. Of which there is no evidence at the moment.
