Separately, the November 18th PC Magazine notes that market research firm Dataquest Inc. has released projections for the semiconductor market - and they predict that the semiconductor market not only will show double-digit growth in 1998, but will sustain such growth through the year 2001 when the market is expected to surpass $300 billion. Global revenues are projected to reach $150 billion by the end of 1997, marking the end of a period of relatively slow growth.

With regard to DRAM, the October 30th issue of Asia Pulse states that a recent forecast by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS)Institute predicts the world's DRAM market will rebound next year, with 1998 bringing a 20-percent sales increase to $25 billion. The DRAM market is expected to total $20.89 billion this year, down 16.9 percent from last year.
