BMO launched a juniors fund recently (ZJG.to) that you could look at, I haven't compared it to GDXJ in terms of their holdings, probably some overlap but might be worth a peek. For the most part I haven't had much trouble trading Cdn stocks through US brokerages but there is the occasional glitch.

I don't want to speak for anyone else but I though Gold10k recommended these guys: secure.penntrade.com

I think with them you can trade directly in Canada from the US.

I'll tell you, based on my own frustrations with the Pink Sheets down here, I'm going to take a hard look at opening an account. Glad you raised the question again.
