Just recall that WAVO is not only a competitor to NewsEdge through its
WavePhore Newscast, but also delivers NewsEdge to subscribers with its
FM wireless hardware. WAVO has similar arrangements with other
providers of proprietary information. Here's another WAVO press
release:

WavePhore and Reuters Sign Satellite Network Agreement; WavePhore to
Provide Turnkey 256 kbps Multimedia Satellite Network

PR News Wire via Dow Jones

SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- WavePhore Networks, a division of
WavePhore, Inc. (Nasdaq: WAVO) announced today it has signed an agreement with
Reuters NewMedia Inc., to provide a new satellite network delivering digital
photographs, graphics and multimedia information to Reuters subscribers across
North America. The agreement calls for a 256 kilobit per second channel that
will provide the North American backbone for Reuters' worldwide Multimedia Data
Network. The contract extends through the year 2001 and will include uplink
services, satellite space segment, network management, installation and service,
as well as application software. WavePhore has provided network services for
Reuters since 1987.

"We are pleased to expand Reuters long-time relationship with WavePhore by
choosing them to deploy Reuters Global Multimedia Data Network in North
America," said Mitch Koppelman, Director of News Marketing, Reuters NewMedia
Inc. "We believe Reuters customers will derive significant benefits from the
improved technologies, faster network speeds and multimedia flexibility
WavePhore's networks provide us."

The Reuters network leverages WavePhore's new core network management and
receiver technology. Each endpoint of the network will be served by WavePhore's
IDR V1000 variable bit rate SCPC satellite receiver as well as application
software developed by WavePhore to capture news, digital photos, graphics and
multimedia content. The IDR V1000 will incorporate an Ethernet port to handle
data output, allowing it to be connected directly to the customer's LAN using
TCP/IP.

"Our great strength lies in our ability to expand the services we provide as
the sophisticated needs of our customers continue to grow," said Mo Gardner,
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WavePhore Networks. "As
the need to disseminate both new kinds and larger amounts of information
continues, we will continue to provide enhanced distribution through new
compression technologies and innovative broadcast transmission methods,
including Internet-standard protocols such as TCP/IP."
