The "profligacy" was not just spending. It was unfunded spending - two unfunded wars and an unfunded Prescription drug bill and unfunded spending made worse by a huge tax cut. The unfunded spending was enabled by the elimination of PAYGO.

Obama's comments are nothing more than the same old thing. Just more talk instead of action.

Let him actually make some serious spending cuts first, than maybe he can talk about about a decade of profligacy...
