There does seem to be such an impulse at work. But it has to be subconscious. I don't believe that Obama and Holder are wilfully suicidal. They understand that freeing KSM would be political suicide - that's why they are making these idiotic remarks about KSM being found guilty and being hung, which make the US look like a banana republic.

The AG and the President hold their positions without ever having thought through the consequences of them. Now there's a scary thought.

How you even put KSM in front of a civilian trial without having the case dismissed because he was snatched in Pakistan, interrogated, waterboarded, and never read his Miranda rights, I do not know. Perhaps some of the lawyers on this thread could help me out here.
