In addition to both ideas fitting "acting like an adult".

Two Wars - Iraq essentially is finished. Afghanistan, was supported overwhelmingly by the American people, and was a response to an attack not really starting a war.

Running up the debt - Adults do that all the time. Its irresponsible, but not childish or immature. Its also something that the Democrats continued when they took control of congress, and then increased when they also got the presidency.
