Your argument makes some sense; but hasn't excessive spending been the theme of the Obama administration and democrat-controlled Congress? For a liberal progressive to argue for fiscal responsibility is to say the least hypocritical.

The space program should be seen as a scientific exploration program that yields developmental advancements beyond the urge to join "Star Fleet" in the Delta Quadrant; for example crystal growth, propulsion systems, robotics, and similar advances.

Along the same lines, Obama has canceled far more than NASA programs. They have canceled programs and disbanded our missile-defense development engineering and scientific teams who were developing systems in Alaska, Poland, and etc. To re-establish such programs and teams will take years. I doubt the Russians and Chinese hobble themselves like Obama and his minion have crippled the US.

The man is systematically destroying our financial, industrial, and military base for what appears to be the intentional crippling of America and consequently Western society.
