No, the oil wasn't "taken away", it was bought and delivered.

Buying from Saudi Arabia is little different from buying from China or most other places. What's your point?

My point was that giving a load of money doesn't make people inventive and productive. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it think.

The USA has given much more to OPEC countries for their oil [no strings attached] than to Israel [strings attached]. The production of the oil was largely paid for by USA and other oil companies so OPEC didn't even have to invest for the exploration and production though they have done since "nationalizing" = confiscating the oil fields.
