Sam, it seems as though the EETimes article contains an error in market share held by Toshiba/SanDisk. My guess is it should have been 37%, not 3.7%, and just a shade lower than the 38.6% reported for Samsung.

The question left unanswered is which of the major producers can make the lowest cost equivalent capacity chip. My guess again is that Toshiba/SanDisk have a lower cost, but the high valued Japanese yen relative to the somewhat devalued Korean won makes the two products almost identical in price on world markets.
