<<one should sell the shares>>
if one desires the loss. taxi-
it all should be well thought out and discussed with both an accountant and a reliable broker that has had at least a few years experience dealing with repair strategies-
i really don't know any brokers that specialize in it- they just buy and hold.
my post referred to not selling at a loss-
if one doesn't mind selling into the loss{which may be the best possible strategy}
and is looking to play as well as hold-
then the repair strategy keeps you in the game-
if i was to take the loss personally i would not even bither with options-on asnd-
but since we are talking large position and holding- then prudently one would sell something where there is no downside risk in having your shares called-
and the money that comes in offsets any interim "paper{on underlying equity-loss"
