Aro 6% of the 8% are muslims (Turks) and recognized as such.

But whoever had some distant relative being German and immigrated from former German territories or enclaves, would get a German passport and thus by definition be a German.
That covers a large part of Eastern Europe from the Urals and down to the Black Sea.

US is different, Italians, Mexcians or other ethic groups are counted as such in spite of having a US passport.
