Gardenia, you have obviously not heard that BP found oil in Persia and the cash flow has been enormous for the best part of a century: <They made it from their bootstraps, no billions given to them as was given to Israel, yet their accomplishments have far exceeded that of Israel, >

By oil I mean mega gushers. Oil is a "given".

Umptymega$billions of oil.

What are those accomplishments?

There is an Iranian, Allen Salmasi nextwave.com who joined with Qualcomm to create OmniTRACS which funded the development of CDMA which is now the whole foundation of mobile cyberspace which is the most amazing invention in not just human history but is even more significant than biological history and the invention of DNA. [I wonder if he is Jewish - hmmm, seems likely]

But that isn't "Iran". He had to escape to the USA to do it.

$13,000 ppp GDP per capita is pretty good going but take out the oil and see what's left. Overall, it's not much good: cia.gov
