I didn't really 'present an argument', (certainly never expressed any support for the position, as you correctly noted.)

You didn't support it, but you presented it in your posts.

Even if you had started the posts but saying "this is the biggest bunch of BS ever written", its still wouldn't be unreasonable for Peter to argue against the idea in your post, as long as he didn't accuse you of supporting it.

You laid out the reasons. He laid out a short argument by analogy against those reasons. I think the analogy is a pretty good one. Greece's claim is pretty silly, almost as silly as the US blocking entry to Georgia, because the fact that we have a state with that name.

But to even imply that I 'support' any of this... or to leap to a conclusion that I would in a similar way 'support' blocking the nation of Georgia from membership in the E.U. because the U.S. has a State named "Georgia" is just the product of an over-active imagination.

But he didn't imply that you supported it (whether or not he actually thinks or thought you did can not be ascertained from his post). He just make a quick attack of the idea. Sure its in reply to your post, but that doesn't mean its about you. He just attacked the idea in a reply to the post that mentioned the idea.
